On the night of February 8 this year, a military parade was held with splendour at Kim Il Sung Square in the capital city of Pyongyang to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the Korean People’s Army, demonstrating to the whole world the proud history and invincible might of the KPA.

The colours of the KPA were fluttered in the front of the columns of paraders marching past the square in a fine array.

They are etched with its history of great victory and glory.

One day over 70 years ago when President Kim Il Sung was stepping up the founding of the regular revolutionary armed forces, he saw the sample colours. He said: The colours represent profound ideology and meanings. Soldiers make a firm resolve to fight at the cost of their lives for the independence of the country and the wellbeing of people before the colours, and charge at the enemy position. Therefore, the colours are the banner of victory and glory.

If the KPA units enter the venue of the military parade on the upcoming February 8, fluttering their colours, the morale of soldiers would be raised and our people would be delighted. When our people, who had felt the sorrow of a ruined nation as they were deprived of their country, see their army marching in the parade flying their colours, they would cherish the national pride and confidence and feel secure.

As a result, the KPA, the regular revolutionary armed forces which inherited the revolutionary traditions of the anti-Japanese war, fluttered its colours at the first military parade held on February 8, Juche 37 (1948).

Much water has flown under the bridge since then.

In those days the colours of the KPA have been fluttered high, demonstrating to the whole world the invincible spirit of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK.

The service personnel of the KPA fought bravely against the aggressors in the sky and land and on the sea of their country, true to the pledge they had made before the sacred colours during the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953), working unprecedented military miracles.

The Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum tells the undying exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung for the victory in the war and the heroic fighting spirit displayed by the victorious wartime generation. On display there are the colours of the Guards units which performed distinguished feats in the sacred war for achieving freedom and independence of the country.

Among them are the colours of Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the KPA which captured Seoul at one stroke and flied the flag of the DPRK there, those of infantry divisions which terrified the enemies in all battle fields including the battle to defend Height 1211, and those of an air regiment which reduced the US air pirates to the fallen leaves in autumn, etc.

One day, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the museum. Seeing carefully the Guards colours and the data on Guards units, he said that whenever he called the names of Guards units, he could picture in his mind the courageous guardsmen who fought fierce battles to annihilate the enemies, flying their colours in front of the ranks for the Party and the leader, for the motherland and the people.

Indeed, the colours are the banner of victory and glory and a symbol of the heroic KPA which represent the noble careers of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, founders and builders of the revolutionary armed forces, and the faith and spirit of the officers and men of the KPA to provide the military guarantee for the revolutionary cause of Juche under the leadership of Kim Jong Un.

The KPA will as ever win victory after victory along with the sacred colours which tell the proud history of the revolutionary armed forces.
